Flowers are the traditional gift to give to your mother on Mother’s Day. The colorful blooms send a non-verbal message to the woman who gave birth to you on her special day.
Different flower varieties and bloom colors convey different sentiments, and you may need a little help to know the right ones to choose. You want to let your Mother know you love her. However, red roses won’t be an excellent choice to convey that sentiment. Red roses mean ‘I Love You,’ but they imply it with romantic love.
Check out some of these best Mother’s Day flowers that will let her know you love her and appreciate all she has done for you.
Carnations
Carnations are the traditional Mother’s Day flower. A woman named Ann Jarvis started the carnation-giving tradition in 1907. In remembrance of her mother, she had 500 white carnations sent to the St. Andrew’s Methodist Episcopal Church of Grafton, West Virginia. Her mother had been a Sunday School teacher in that church for 20 years before her death. Carnations were the favorite flower of Ann Jarvis’ mother, and she asked that each mother in the church congregation that day be given a white carnation. The following year, St. Andrew’s Church repeated the gesture on the same day, and a new tradition was born. This is how the link between carnations and Mother’s Day got started.
Each color of carnation has a different meaning.
* Pink carnations express gratitude for all her sacrifices while raising you.
* Red carnations express the admiration you feel for your Mother.
* White carnations are worn symbolically to remember a mother who has passed away.

Flowers designer’s choice
We asked flower designer’s Audrey, at my loving little farmhouse to create a mother’s day bouquet for us:
Audrey’s mom is from China, so she chose peonies as the central flower to star in this bouquet. The choice was dictated by the meaning of peonies: generosity and grace. In China, the peony is a flower of power bringing together feminine beauty, generosity, and success.
